BORING, BLIND, BUT BELIEVING

In my younger years I lived for excitement.  I considered myself exciting and went to exciting places and lived for the next exciting adventure.  However, as the years have passed I've come to realize that I'm trapped in the mundane, routine life of supporting my kids; being faithful to my wife; and being committed to the ministry / "job" that God has placed me.  To many people they would describe that as a boring life.  So, I accept the fact that I'm living a "boring life."  Boring is an adjective that you could use to describe my present life.

However, their is a second adjective that you could use as well.  It's the word, "blind."  I'm not actually, legally blind, but I need help to see and as a matter of fact I had to go to the eye Dr. last week because I noticed that my eyesight is growing worse and that I needed some stronger glasses to see.

So, I'm boring and "blind", but I'm in great company because as I was reading John 9 I realized that God can use boring, blind guys for His purpose.  In John 9 there was a man who was born blind.  You talk about boring.  When you were born blind in the 1st century you lived a totally boring existence because there was NOTHING anyone could do for you.

However, one day this boring, blind guy's life intersected with Jesus and POW, BAM, BOOM -- Jesus changed it all!  Instead of living a boring, blind life, he saw Jesus and believed in Him; then started living a life that included his parents being afraid to stand up for him; the religious leaders kicking him out of the synagogue; and a LIFE OF WORSHIP OF JESUS - that's where the excitement is, worshipping Jesus even when no one else does.

God, help me to see you every day.  Forgive me when I'm blinded by sin and fail to cast my eyes upon you each and every day.  Thank you, Lord, for my "boring life" of the exciting routine of following you.  Through it all may Your "work be displayed in my life" (cf. John 9:3).
