HALLOWEEN IS COMING! ARE YOU AFRAID?

With Halloween just around the corner, many kids might be getting scared thinking about that creepy night.  Perhaps many parents and grandparents are fearful about letting their kids and grandkids go out and "trick or treat".

Personally, I'm just glad that Christians are never afraid.  Or, if they do fear, it's just for one night a year.  Right?

"It's too scary to raise the church budget for more outreach events, because things are real tight."  "I'm afraid to invite my friend to church, because I don't know enough about Jesus myself."  "I'm scared to die, because I just don't know what will happen to me even though I've gone to church for over 50 years."  "I'm too fearful to give 10% to the church because I don't know what will happen to me."

And yet Jesus says, "Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, believe also in Me" (John 14:1).  And then God speaks through Paul in 2 Timothy 1:7 and says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of self-discipline."

So, what are you afraid of?  Are you too afraid to really believe Jesus and His Word?

THANKS FOR THE PRAYER ENCOURAGEMENT

Thanks Central and Derry for reminding us to "pray for our enemies", those who are Muslim. Many times it's too easy to get mad at them rather than pray for them. Because of your reminder, every time I hear the news talk about Ramadan I stop and pray that the Gospel would penetrate the Muslim world with the love of Jesus. Thanks.

SO TRUE. WE ARE TOO AFRAID

No wonder the number 1 command in the New Testament is, "Do not be afraid." Fear stops us from walking by faith. Forgive us, God for being too afraid and not having enough faith, especially within our churches that should be leading out in "walking by faith."
