This ministry exists to help students develop an authentic faith in Jesus Christ. It exists to help students encounter the One True God and experience the freedom that we have through Jesus Christ. An authentic faith is one that is rooted and established in love, not one that pretends, but one that is real and honest. An authentic faith is one that is characterized by love, grace, and vulnerability. Being willing to share and listen to others allows us to help each other carry the burdens we have in our lives. It is also characterized by Truth. Jesus said he is the truth and we press onward together to learn how to love and trust Him more.
The Bible, or Word of God, plays a central role in the youth ministry. It is the foundation of our teachings and one very important way that we can connect to God. The Word of God helps teach, correct, and mold us into what God intended us to be.
Our spiritual walk is all about relationships. The greatest commandment is to love God and love other. Our relationship with God is of first importance. But our relationships with family, friends, accountancies, and even those who we have a hard time getting along with are important to us. A life style of worship, accountability, and responsibility all play a role in our lives, to help create an environment where we can be real about our faith and help one another through the bumpy road of life.
Prayer is a constant conversation with God. It requires honesty, commitment, and even a listening ear. Prayer is another great tool to connect us to our God. It is important to bathe everything we do in prayer, no matter how big or small. We believe in the Holy Spirit who guides our steps and helps us through life, including those times in life when there are no words to pray.
We are called by God to love others as ourselves. That means serving one another. This takes several different forms. First, we are to serve others inside our community. This ministry exists to help students find their God given talents, passions, and loves. We are to use these to honor Him and serve others. Second, we are called to serve those that are not yet part of our community of faith. We are told to go and tell others about Jesus and to have a heart for those who do not know Him.
